Bring the Rain For those of you who have ever lost a child, or know someone who has, this blog is incredible. Having lost four babies myself, giving birth to one and knowing her for a brief four hours before she died, I can tell you every sentiment, every feeling, every sentence is absolutely true. From mourning to dancing, this blog will completely bless you.
A cookie parfait, that's what!! We had some leftover cookies in our house (go figure), and I was looking for a fun treat for the girls. I took some strawberry yogurt, and layered crumbled cookies and yogurt in little parfait cups, topping them with a sliced strawberry. Very easy, it took me all of five minutes to make them, and the girls ate them up!
My hubby and I both agreed that pudding would have been our choice rather than the yogurt, but the yogurt did make it a healthier treat, and my girls love yogurt, so it worked. And I enjoyed it, because I felt like I was being healthy as I got my sweet fix! I can't help it, I have to trick myself into eating healthy, otherwise it just doesn't happen.
Here's what they looked like . . . they were so pretty too!!
I bet you didn't know that Turkey has a birthday right before Thanksgiving. He now does in our house!! Hailey's class made turkeys a couple of weeks ago, and she brought hers home last week to sit on the counter and keep watch over us until Thanksgiving. She woke up one morning and decided it was Turkey's birthday. When we all got home at the end of the day, Hailey reminded me it was Turkey's birthday. She followed that up with "We're gonna have a party, right?" Of course, how can you not have a party for a birthday? The next question . . . "You gonna make some cake?" Again, of course. So after dinner, we turned out the lights, lit the birthday candles, and sang Happy Birthday to Turkey. Then we all took our picture with him, and ate cake. So here's to you, Turkey - Happy Birthday!
Here's my most recent dessert that was a HUGE hit at our house!! Just a different take on the classic "dessert pizza," I decided to make individual dessert pizzas! I took some left over sugar cookies, spread on some cream cheese frosting (yes, from the can, I am all about easy), and cut up fruit to arrange on top. I used strawberries, raspberries, and peaches. You can add your fruit any which way, it really doesn't matter. If you're having a party, you can get fancy and make designs, or if you just want something different for your family, just pile it on!! And with kids . . . just chop it up and pile on as much as you can . . . they'll be so anxious to get to the cookie part they will gobble up all that fruit to get there and hardly notice they're eating fruit!!
Then I got to thinking . . . what a great idea this would make for a party!! The big dessert pizzas are so pretty - but then the first person cuts it and it just never looks as good. This way, there's no cutting involved! Make them as fancy as you want, and everyone gets their very own! I don't know if this is an original idea or not, but it's my blog, so I'm claiming it!!
Make up some for your family . . . and enjoy!! It's fast, it's easy, and it's delectable!
If your family is anything like mine, this question is almost more important than the age old "what's for dinner?" I'm going to be posting some fun, easy dessert ideas that will sweeten up your family in no time! After all, dessert should be "a piece of cake," or "easy as pie," right?! Ours will lean more towards "that's how the cookie crumbles," but you probably already figured that!!
I had some cool fun making these cookie ice cream sandwiches - and they were a huge hit that took less than five minutes to prepare - can't get much easier than that, and I do the baking for you!
Take two of my soft baked, fresh sugar cookies, and put a scoop of vanilla ice cream between them. It works best when the cookies are soft (so plan to pick them up the day you want to make the dessert, or the day before), and the ice cream has sat out for a few minutes. Once you sandwich the icecream in between the cookies, roll the edges in colored sprinkles to add some festivity. I think the smile says it all . . . ENJOY!
