Bring the Rain For those of you who have ever lost a child, or know someone who has, this blog is incredible. Having lost four babies myself, giving birth to one and knowing her for a brief four hours before she died, I can tell you every sentiment, every feeling, every sentence is absolutely true. From mourning to dancing, this blog will completely bless you.
Ok, so technically this is still in a flower pot . . . . BUT . . . with a fun little addition that I think most people don't think of very often. It's super easy to add an extra little something to your cookie bouquet gift to really give it that WOW factor. Isn't that what we're usually going for?
I used this BraND nEw graduation pot, and then added one of our very cute "Celebrate" stakes. There's so many ways someone could use this, and will always love you for adding that special touch. Don't believe me? Try these. . .
Use the cookie bouquet as the centerpiece at the graduation party. Let everyone take a cookie with them when they leave, and the graduate is left with a memorable container and a cute stake celebrating their achievement.
Send the cookie bouquet to the graduate close to the end of school. They'll love getting the cookies, and can then put the stake outside to welcome guests to their party!
Add the cookie bouquet to a dessert table for a fun accent, and put the stake in the ground by the mailbox and tie balloons to it to mark the party spot!
Because the package part of the stake unscrews from the stem, this could be used on a dorm room or apartment door to add some festivity whenever there's a reason to celebrate!
Wrap coordinating ribbon around the stake and hang it on the wall as a great party accent!
Ready to try one now?! I thought so!! Click here to see our other graduation gifts available.
When it comes to my girls, I really need to start thinking outside the pot. It seems that my pranks on them have started revolving around their milk. I know, weird, right?! I need some fresh ideas. I think they would agree.
St. Patrick's Day, I colored their milk green. They thought it was really cool until I told them they still needed to drink it. Then they just flat out didn't believe me! That one took an awful lot of convincing!!
When April Fool's Day rolled around, I was pretty proud of myself that I had a plan ahead of time. I froze their milk the night before in their cups, then in the morning put just a tiny bit of milk on top. They started drinking, only to realize they couldn't. I will admit that I thought it was hysterical, the initial looks on their faces priceless, and I could not stop laughing.
Until this. Yep, both girls, truly just mad at me. Kahlee can never hold a frown when the camera comes out, but she gave it her best shot! I think Hailey's exact words were, "Mommy this is so not funny."
What do you do to have some fun with your kids? I'd love to hear some new ideas . . . and there just might even be a prize in store for the best idea!!
I wanted to show you a couple of our new Easter basket fillers, but I have to tell you the story that goes along with them. Why I always have a story to go along with things, I don't know. But it makes things interesting, don't you think?!
These dinosaur eggs from Russ have been a big hit already. Polka dot eggs in different colors that you unzip to find a baby dinosaur inside. So cute. Press the dino's belly and he roars! Even cuter. A mom was in the other day with her little girl, who just giggled and giggled over these little dinosaurs. She had the most precious giggle that would just bubble over every time she pressed a dino's belly and made it roar.
I'm thinking, if she thinks those are funny, wait until she sees these . . . .
These soft little bunnies are wind-up toys, and they hop all over when they're wound up. Again, most kids get a kick out of these and think they are just too fun. Enter precious giggle little girl, who was scared to death by the hopping bunnies! She jumped back with her hands over her mouth and her eyes huge, then said "no, no, no!"
I felt terrible, of course, and told her (and mommy) how sorry I was that it scared her. All was right once we pressed a few more dino bellies - whew!
You can see all of the funny - and not-so-much - basket fillers in our Easter section here.
Here's something you may not know about Kookie Krums . . . we also do invitations! Yes Maam, we are a one stop party shop!! Ha ha, feel like I need a good twang to pull off that sentence! Anyway, I'm a little obsessed with paper. Love, love, love all the specialty papers, the textures, the patterns, you name it.
Invitations are done by us mostly through word of mouth, and they all are one of a kind. I've never offered anyone the same invite I've done for someone else. I think the invites are as individual as the occasion itself. It's the first thing people see about your event, so it should have the WOW effect!
I did these invitations recently for a lingerie shower. A lingerie shower at a winery - now that's a party!! What a fabulous idea! The wedding colors are light blue, silver, and white, so I kept to those colors with the shower invitations as well. We also did address labels in the same fonts. I think that just adds an extra thoughtful touch, and it's all in the details!!
And to my wonderful friend and client - I hope this shower is only the start of a new and beautiful beginning. I love your heart, and love that you gave me the privilege of creating these invitations for you!
Are these not the most adorable chicks you've ever seen?! I absolutely love them. Hailey walked into the shop the day I put these up and said, "Oh my word, that is the cutest thing I have ever seen." Hmm, wonder where she gets that from?!
Made by Sylvestri with Demdaco, these are handpainted screen, and are truly unique. They have a little hanger on the back, so you can hang them on a fence, like I did (love this), or you can hang one on your front door, a tree, etc. I have glass in my front door, and do not have a pretty tree in my yard, so I think I'm going to pick up some shepherd's hooks and have them "standing" in the grass by my front door.
I think each one's hat gives her a different attitude - my favorite is the purple hat. Which one do you like best?! You can click here to view and order these on our website.
Ok, so I just realized that I didn't post yesterday for the weekly "thinking outside the pot." We've recently gotten in some fantastic mugs, and adding a cookie bouquet to the mug makes for the perfect "use every part of it" gift. Enjoy the scrumptious cookies, and then have a mug to remind you how special you are every day!! Pictured are our new happy birthday mugs. My hubby thought it was quite funny that I got the "Happy Birthday to Me" mugs, as that's my personal slogan from about six months before my birthday until about one month after. So glad someone else thinks like me and made a mug for it!! You can see our other cookie mugs here. Which one do you like best?!
I've showed you this line from Curly Girl Designs before, but this little sign absolutely melts my heart. "Just when you think you know Love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is." Isn't that just precious?!
One of my customers the other day sent a cookie bouquet to her grandchildren. There is one on the way as well, so she included this plaque with the bouquet to send a gift to her grandbaby-to-be. Isn't that the sweetest thing ever?! Completely sends me to mush every time I think about it!
Yes, it's Wednesday. Yes, it's time to show you a fun new product, or a sweet treat. Something other than a cookie bouquet. No, I don't have anything to show you today. You see, I'm still seeing red. And pink, for that matter. It's all I see when I close my eyes. I put so many bouquets together in my sleep that I shouldn't have to come to work during the day.
It's time to take down Valentine's Day. Ok, so it was time three days ago. I know. But then there's that in-between. It still feels too early for Easter. It's not quite spring. So what's a shop to do?! That is my project today, and I am stalling. Waiting for inspiration to strike. It's like the let-down after Christmas. I still want to be celebrating. Something. Anything. But there's nothing to celebrate, at least not yet.
On the other hand, I guess that's what we do here every single day. Celebrate those days in between. The birthdays, the new homes, the precious babies. We encourage, acknowledge, and make sure those days in between do not go unnoticed. I think I just found my inspiration . . .
How quickly do you travel that path back to childhood when you see these big, colorful lollipops?! They are amazing. Made by Hammond's Candies, where they still make all of their candy by hand. Beautiful creations, with vibrant colors and perfect swirls. Fantastic by themselves, and fabulous when paired with a gift. A reminder with every taste of simpler, carefree times when happiness was created just by the simple purchase of a larger than life lollipop!
If you are like me, you probably hesitate over buying these lollipops when you see them and the kids beg for them. You just know they won't finish it, it will become a sticky mess, and the interest is gone long before the second layer is! Someone shared a tip with me, though, that has changed all that. We now buy these without a second thought, knowing we will get every last lick out of them! Once the girls have their fun of trying to lick through these ginormous pops, we tie them up in a plastic bag, and bang them on a hard surface, breaking up the lollipop. You then have a bag of small pieces of candy that you can keep in your purse and dole out as needed. Just remember which bag belongs to which child!! Seriously, though, this makes life with lollipops so easy. As an added bonus, it becomes a treat that now lasts all day!
Our chilly weather lately has made me go into this phase of wanting to curl up on the sofa underneath a cozy blanket and just sit. With a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and sprinkles on top. Or a cup full of steaming coffee. A mug of delicious hot tea. It's a very good thing I do not live up north, as I don't think I would leave my house for months on end.
For some reason, this weather makes me turn towards my reflective side, does that happen to you? Maybe it's just because I'm finally sitting and doing nothing, instead of trying to do everything at once, but I find myself spending more time thinking about things that really matter to me, and trying - finally - to take the steps to make those things more of a priority, instead of just wishing they were. As I spend time thinking, I feel my spirit coming alive again. I see the creative sparks, the hopeful thoughts, the wishful dreams. I feel renewed, and energized.
If you haven't taken the time to snuggle under a blanket and just be, you must indulge yourself, and stir your soul!
Pictured above is one of our cookie bouquets in a mug, silver coffee scoop, and coffee beans that are locally roasted.
