My always-inspiring friend Lori Radun posted a link to The Mommy Commandments from Parenting on Shine, and I loved them so much I just had to share them with you! I'm sure we could all think of a few more to add to this list, but it's fantastic! Enjoy . . .
I. Thou shall always return the Tupperware. Clean.
II. Thou shalt not judge the Mommy Friend who: formula feeds, gets the epidural, vaccinates, works outside the home or works inside the home.
III. Thou shalt not crucify a fellow Mommy Friend for choosing not to join the PTA.
IV. Thou shalt not steal baby names, nursery patterns, blog posts or another Mommy Friend’s thunder.
V. Thou shall offer that frazzled stranger mom in the throes of an ugly public tantrum a word of encouragement, but never advice.
VI. Thou shalt not compare carat size, cup size, bank account size or report cards.
VII. Thou shalt not say a disparaging word about a fellow Mommy Friend’s child or parenting philosophy to their face, or behind their back…but especially to their face.
VIII. Thou shalt work tirelessly to preserve their children’s clothing to the best of their ability for hand-me-downs to a grateful fellow Mommy Friend.
IX. Thou shalt not beat thyself up for being a slacker Mommy Friend on a tough day. Or on an easy day. Or ever actually.
X. Thou shall take the time to appreciate her fellow Mommy Friends as no mommy is an island. Thank that Mommy Friend for watching out for your child on a school field trip or providing you with those missing spelling words. Mommy Friends are better together.
