I had the fun task of putting together an icebreaker for the Junior League meeting earlier this week. I decided to make it about a girl and her purse. My hubby always says he thinks we could survive a hurricane with what I carry in my purse, but you've got to be prepared, right?! Now with the girls, there's even more inventory in this black hole of a purse I've got. But I can't tell you how many times we've been saved at an appointment or a restaurant that's taking longer than expected because I can pull out a variety of notebooks, crayons, toys, and the like. Anyway, I'm getting off track here . . . the icebreaker . . .
The girls were split up into groups of six, and told to take their purses with them when they split up. I made a list of sixteen items that a girl might find in her purse. Everything from pink lipstick to a parking ticket to a hotel room key. Some of the girls were hoping for a scandalous story with that last one, but we didn't hear anything juicy.
The words were scrambled, to make it more of a challenge. Each group had to first unscramble the words, and then see how many of the items they could come up with out of their purses. Then, of course, there were prizes.
For third prize, I told them they really need to stock their purses, so I gave them a bag of necessities. Gum, antibacterial wipes, nail file, binder clip (don't knock it, I used one to hold up my pants the other day!!), and candy.
Second prize, they were doing pretty good, just needed some essentials. They each received a bag with a little notepad, pen, granola bar, tissues, and a lollipop.
First prize was a little more difficult. What do you get the girl who has everything?! I gave them each a candy bar wrapped up like a million dollar bill. What more does a girl need than a million dollars?! However, along with that much money comes a lot of headaches, so they also got a pack of Tylenol to keep in their purse. And because you can always use something sweet, they each got a cookie. So fun!
