This is how it usually ends up in my house. One cookie left in the bag. Three people fighting over it. Yes, only three, because I am now a cookie snob. People always ask me if I still eat cookies. Yes I do. However, I will confess here that I am now much more snobby about my cookies. I like them right out of the oven, after they've cooled just enough that the melted chocolate doesn't burn your fingers or your mouth. Once they've cooled completely, forget it. I'll wait for the next batch, thank you.
My family, on the other hand, is much more gracious than I. They still get so excited when I bring home a back of leftover cookies, and I love that they still see it as such a treat! Everyone has their favorites, and those always go first. This time there was one oatmeal raisin left in the bag. This is my husband's favorite, or one of them. He rotates between the oatmeal, white chocolate macadamia nut, and sugar. Just in case you were really wanting to know that.
My girls are not big fans of the oatmeal, and honestly, neither am I. I've never been a fan of cooked raisins, so it just stands to reason that this is not one of my faves. And there's no chocolate in it. Enough said. So after all the grabbing, and after the cookie was split, Kahlee took a bite, scrunched up her nose, and handed it back to me with a "no, Mommy, yucky!" I then said "ok, honey, but this is the last cookie. Mommy doesn't have anymore cookies." She tilted her head to one side in serious thought, than yelled "MINE!," snatched that cookie right back, and gobbled it down. They're really not yucky by the way, they're the favorite choice of many people. Just to clarify.
But she's a smart girl. After all, everybody knows that even a yucky cookie is better than no cookie at all!
