We were so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of making William's first birthday a special occasion. William's mama sent us the invitation for his party, and we made photo cookies to match the invite.
The cookies were arranged in a bouquet that adorned the table where guests could sign in and write their birthday wishes for William.
Happy, Happy First Birthday, William! Here's to a lifetime of special birthday memories!
I had the wonderful opportunity to be involved with a baby shower this past weekend. Not just any baby shower, this was a shower celebrating two very long awaited gifts. Sweet twin baby boys, who found their forever families and were adopted recently. We decided to theme the shower, "the perfect pair."
Guests were given pear shaped name tags when they came in. They also got a paper to answer some questions about the family's adoption experience. The questions were posted on pairs of pears throughout the room.
Diaper cakes graced the tables as centerpieces, all with a "pair" of something attached to them - bottle brushes, teethers, rattles, etc.
We made cake pops for the kids - although many of the adults enjoyed them as well! They looked absolutely adorable in the flower pots!
I just have to show you these balloons . . . aren't they fantastic?! Each family had their picture taken by the balloons, then wrote a note to the family. The notes will be placed in a scrapbook with each family's picture next to it for a special keepsake.
A special party, for a special family. Congratulations on your forever family . . . we wish you a world of happiness!
To answer all of the questions in one spot - here we go. Yes, I made everything for Hailey's birthday party. Yes, everything did have to be about bowling, as that was the theme of the party. Yes, I do make invitations for people, in fact, I can do the entire package for you. No, it was not overwhelming, and yes, I loved every minute of it. Yes, I did think our shirts were one of the best accessories of the party. And yes, I do know that I can get carried away. But I love it that way.
It started with the invitation. I'll have to come back and add a picture of the invite, because I sent all of mine out and didn't think to make an extra one for the archives. As usual. Anyway, I decided on a pink, black, and white theme for the bowling party.
A wonderful friend of my aunt's made Hailey's shirt for the party. Dr. Karen is into everything bling. And I mean everything. Hailey thought her closet was like Disneyworld. Sparkly shoes, sparkly clothes, sparkly jewelry, sparkly tiaras - she has it all, and she does it all! If you're looking for anything along the lines of bling, let me know. I can have you blinged in no time flat. The front of her shirt had an adorable little bowling design on it, with rhinestones accents.
The back of her shirt had her name in rhinestones, and then a number six, because she was six. Of course. Isn't it fabulous?!
Of course, I got so excited over Hailey's shirt that I wanted a party shirt too. Dr. Karen gave me the quick tutorial on how to make a shirt, and then let me have at it. So fun, and so me.
Then we had the dessert table. I had decided that I would make all of the desserts, instead of ordering a cake. Why order a cake when you own a cookie store, right?! Well, I mean, unless you really are in need of a cake. Our dessert menu consisted of cupcakes, bowling ball cookies, and cake pops.
I made the dessert display from a piece of wood, some scrapbook paper, and some white foam balls. I had my hubby paint the foam balls to look like bowling balls, and we attached them to the wood frame. The cookies were decorated to look like pink bowling balls.
The cake pops were a huge hit! We had both strawberry and chocolate, some dipped in milk chocolate, and some dipped in white chocolate. They were all covered in either sprinkles or cookies & creme toppings. I was amazed at the number of kids that chose a cake pop over a cupcake. I was also amazed at the number of kids that chose one of everything. But hey, they weren't coming home with me!
I had two cupcake displays on either side of the bowling balls, so it was like sugar heaven when the kids walked in and saw ALL. THESE. SWEETS.
The party favors were absolutely adorable, I have to say, even if I did make them. They were little paper boxes, filled with a ring pop and a few silly bands, and tied up with a cute ribbon. The tag on the front was a bowling ball (probably no need to clarify that at this point) with a note in the middle that said "thanks for coming to my party."
Would you love to have a party with all of these details, but don't feel you're creative, or just don't want to spend the time putting it together? That's what we're here for! You can order this entire package from the shop, in any combination of colors. And yes, we go overboard like this for our customers too. Of course we do.
This was such a fun baby shower to be part of! Grandma-to-be, who was also hosting the shower, found these adorable mini flower pots at Michael's on sale. She wanted to incorporate these into the favors, which was a great idea. I love, love, love when you find something that jumps out at you, at a fantastic price, and just works to develop a party around it!
She wanted to do cookies for the party favors, but also wanted a nice centerpiece for the gift table. Great way to take care of multiple needs with one item. A cookie bouquet looks great as a centerpiece, and works perfectly for guests to pull a cookie for their favor on their way out. The flower pot then makes a lovely keepsake for the guest of honor.
We decided to make baby onesies for the cookies. They needed to match the flower pots that were also being used for favors, as well as the primary color theme of the shower. We frosted the onesies in various colors, then in alternating colors added a little flower in the middle of the neckline. The baby's name is "Kendal," so we added that beneath the flower.
The hostess decided to do some other flavors of cookies as well, so there would be a variety with the sugar. We used royal frosting, and piped flowers onto the other flavors of cookies as well. Did you notice the "K" in the center of each of the flowers?!
I absolutely love how this turned out, I thought it was absolutely precious. Congratulations, Kendal's family! We are excited with you to welcome this sweet baby into the world!
How festive is this display?! I love the mix of red, white, and blue. Just making these bows makes me feel completely patriotic. With all of the parties for the Fourth this weekend, this is just what you need! Wouldn't a hostess love to see you coming with this adorable container filled with cookies galore?! This is our special of the week, so give us a call if we can put one together for you!
Cookies and celebrations go together. That's all there is to it. There's so many things to do with cookies for graduations, and who doesn't smile a little wider when they get a cookie?! Here's a few things we've done with cookies for our clients recently . . .
Cookies for a Kindergarten Graduation Breakfast . . .
There's actually a funny story behind this picture. These were done for Hailey's school. At the beautiful breakfast her Kindergarten teacher gave for the graduates and their parents, she mentioned that the cookies came from my store. My crazy girl bursts out with "Yes, but I don't like the sugar cookies, I like the other ones better, so I'm giving my cookie to my daddy." My hubby told me I had a deer in the headlights look on my face. Only it wasn't because of what she said, because after all, I do know her favorites. It was because on a metal tray, on a counter at the shop, were a dozen beautifully frosted sugar cookies with Hailey's picture on them. I had planned to make up a bouquet to give her as a surprise after graduation. And now she was announcing to everyone that she didn't even want one! This is my life, but fortunately I'm a quick thinker. I added in some of her "favorite flavors" to the bouquet, and encouraged her to give the picture cookies to her friends and take her favorites home. She was happy, her friends were happy, and I was just giggling. That's my girl.
These cookies were done with variations of the school logo and mascot. We made up eight-cookie centerpieces, which were placed on the tables at a special luncheon for the graduates.
I love when my customers give me the chance to think outside the box and get creative!! This was one of those fun times! We needed unique baby shower centerpieces. The customer knew she wanted to incorporate cookies for the guests to have as party favors . . . but was gracious enough to leave the rest up to me!
I love when I can create a centerpiece, gift, or display in which every piece is something you can use. And that's what I did here. I created the cookie bouquets in different little pairs of baby shoes. A nice treat for mom-to-be, and an adorable display. Because the tables were large, and I didn't want these tiny shoes to get lost in the middle, I created a base for the shoe to sit on - out of diapers! Rolled diapers were the perfect companion. Again, a nice treat for mom-to-be, and the perfect height to give these shoes a little lift! Beautiful ribbon and bows rounded out the display, and they turned out simply gorgeous!
