Turkey's Birthday Party

I bet you didn't know that Turkey has a birthday right before Thanksgiving. He now does in our house!! Hailey's class made turkeys a couple of weeks ago, and she brought hers home last week to sit on the counter and keep watch over us until Thanksgiving. She woke up one morning and decided it was Turkey's birthday. When we all got home at the end of the day, Hailey reminded me it was Turkey's birthday. She followed that up with "We're gonna have a party, right?" Of course, how can you not have a party for a birthday? The next question . . . "You gonna make some cake?" Again, of course. So after dinner, we turned out the lights, lit the birthday candles, and sang Happy Birthday to Turkey. Then we all took our picture with him, and ate cake.  So here's to you, Turkey - Happy Birthday!

 

Holiday Open House & Gift Show to Benefit Foster Children

We are excited to host our first annual Holiday Open House & Gift Show on Friday, December 5th, from 5pm - 10pm.  We will have numerous vendors joining us, including Oh Sew Sweet children's clothing, Pampered Chef, Sweet Gifts by Ang (great chocolates!!), What a Dog Art, Miche Bag, A Pure World, Avon, and much more!  Enjoy hot apple cider, coffee, hot chocolate, and fresh baked gourmet cookies while you shop! And even better . . . our evening will benefit the Junior League Clearwater-Dunedin's Angel Tree Project, which provides Christmas gifts for foster children throughout Pinellas & Pasco Counties. We will have raffle items, including a fishing charter from OtherSide charters, and all of the vendors will be donating a portion of their sales to the Angel Tree Project. This will be a great event to get involved with, and a fun evening out!

The same evening, Downtown Dunedin is having its annual Old Fashioned Christmas. With carriage rides, train rides, entertainment, music, restaurants, and shopping, it's a night out the whole family will love!! I hope to see you!

Fall Arts & Crafts Festival This Weekend

This weekend Downtown Dunedin will host its annual Arts & Crafts Festival. The streets will be filled with vendors with a great variety of products. This is one of my favorite shows of the year, as it always has a really good turnout of people and is just so much fun. Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16, the show will be open from 9am (I think) to 5pm.  We of course will be here long before the chickens are awake to start baking cookies, so just follow the delicious smell of just-out-of-the-oven-cookies and you'll find us!! Barnie's Coffees,  warm cookies, and shopping . . . doesn't get much better than that!  The shop is decorated for Christmas and you just have to see it!! Beautiful designs this year and great new products, all available to get you started on that shopping list!! Many of our boutique items will be on sale 50 - 75% off during the weekend for the show as well, so if you've had your eye on something, better come in and see if you can get it for a great price! We have a table full of items under $10.00.  And who can beat that price for great stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, and great finds for yourself!! Oh, and by the way . . . I will always trade cookies for funnel cake!!  YUM!

Be sure to visit our amazing friends and their very talented kids at UHip. They will have a booth at the festival this weekend, and you won't want to miss it! You can read all about them on their site - but these kids have developed amazing hoola hoops! Started as a home school project, UHip has blossomed into a succesful business - like I said, very talented kids!! And when you purchase a hoola hoop, you can come by our store for a free cookie!! They will also have coupons good for $5.00 off a $25.00 purchase at our store, so be sure to stop by and take a look at their hoops . . . even try your hand - er, hips - at hooping!!

Gobble Gobble!

How cute is this guy?? I just love him!! Tom the turkey, filled with a cookie bouquet! Perfect! I am down to only three of these turkeys left, but I just had to show him to you. I think he's adorable, and what a great gift for the holidays. Once the cookies are done, he makes the perfect place to put your napkins & utensils on a casual Thanksgiving buffet, or a cute little bread basket, or a fun container to pass around the slips of paper for everyone to write what they're thankful for - the possibilities are endless with this Tom Turkey!! Order yours soon, because once they're gone they're gone, as time has run out to order anymore before Thanksgiving. By the way, can you believe Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away?? Where has the time gone this year?

Cornucopia . . . and plenty of Thanks!

Cornucopia. Horn of Plenty. That Thanksgiving horn looking thing. Yep, we've all heard of them. Decorate them with fruit, veggies, and other fake things for your holiday table. But cookies?? That's right. We filled ours with cookies, which we think means even more reason to give thanks!! Take a peek at our websiteto see ordering information for this, and all of our Thanksgiving specialties.  And here's an idea for you . . . one of our clients is sending these to clients for holiday gifts, to beat the deluge of gifts in December. Isn't that a fantastic idea?? More memorable when you're not receiving several gifts every day, and a new twist on the necessary holiday gifts.

Monogram Cookies

Margaret Burnside, of Tampa Bay Magazine, hosted a baby shower this past weekend, and I had the pleasure of creating the party favors. This baby boy was being welcomed in style, and these monogram cookies were a classy gift for the guests. This is a great way to give the guests a hint at the baby's name, if you're keeping it a surprise, or a fantastic idea if you're looking for something outside the box of rattles and booties and typical baby shower fare. Monogram cookies are also great favors for engagement parties and weddings. So many possibilities!!

Wines the Blues

What a great time we had at Dunedin Wines the Blues. My husband, Daniel, came and worked the store with me, and I must give a huge thank you to him! Daniel pretty much ran the store and gave me the opportunity to chat with everyone and just relax and enjoy the evening.  Bear, you are wonderful for doing that for me!! I so enjoyed getting to see some of my "regulars," talking with people who have received our gifts, and meeting some new people that I hope will be around for a long time to come! Dunedin is a great community for building relationships and really getting to know your clients, and I love that I get to do that. I feel like I get to step into all of your lives, and I appreciate you letting me peek in! I love getting to help you celebrate the births, the milestones, and everything in between!

We are making progress in getting our end of Main Street included in the events of Downtown, and a big thank you to all of you who ventured down to this end of the street!! You are helping to make us successful, and we love being involved!! Next year we're hoping to have a band and other things at this end, but I will keep you posted!!

Dunedin Wines the Blues

Saturday, November 8th, Downtown Dunedin will host Dunedin Wines the Blues, a fantastic event that is held annually on Main Street. Main Street will be closed to traffic, and will have live music, beverages, and arts and crafts vendors. This will be a fun evening out, with or without the kiddos!  The event is from 5pm - 11pm.

For the first time in a VERY long time . . . the streets will be closed on our block as well, allowing people to wander, shop, and mingle down our way as well!  I am very excited about this, as we have waited a long time to be included. Next year we hope to have a band and vendors down our way, but for now . . . come visit us!! Kookie Krums will be open for business, serving fresh hot cookies and Barnie's Coffees. Christmas merchandise is displayed and available for purchase as well.

This will be a fun event - I hope to see you there!!
