My big helper (or should I say my princess) is at work with me today. Hailey gets to spend the day with me at Kookie Krums, since her school is closed today. She is SO excited to be "working" here!! She wants to help with everything, from making the coffee, to putting the cookies in the oven, to sweeping the floor (I love her!!). Now she's just waiting on some customers to come in! With the rainy weather outside, she might be waiting a while! My little budding entrepreneur, she asks the first person that walks in the door, "you want some cookies?!" When asked how much a cookie costs she says "Twenty dollars!" This might be my most profitable day yet! It really is fun having her here with me, hearing a three year old perspective on those things that become mundane in your job - "TWO pots of coffee? That's a really lot of coffee!" "MMMMM These cookies smell yummy - Cookie Monster would really like some of these."
I sit here and think about what the future holds, and about the day when my girl might actually be working behind the counter . . . and thankfully the timer goes off, I'm snapped back to reality. I look at my sweet three year old in her princess dress (because one must look beautiful to go to work all day), and "click" - there's a picture snapped in my memory, treasured for all time.
