It's that time of year again . . . when the street festivals begin in Downtown Dunedin, and our quaint little town bustles with people out enjoying the weather and the town. These are some of my favorite times at the shop. We take the tables outside, and set up various pots of Barnie's coffees and baskets of fresh baked cookies. We open up the shop doors, and the smell of cookies in the oven permeates the entire block. Creative and interesting vendors line the streets, and we get to meet some of our favorite customers as everyone comes out to enjoy a day downtown.
Last year, at one of these events, I had the pleasure to meet George the Goose. George waddled himself right up to the table, and would have helped himself to a few cookies if his owner hadn't been slightly quicker than he was! George let me hold him, and even let me feed him a sugar cookie - which he seemed to love!! I love the remnants of crumbs lining his mouth! We drew quite a crowd as George sampled our famous cookies, and squawked his approval! His owners had a hard time getting him away from the table, but eventually he listened and off they went, to enjoy the rest of the day and likely to sample some more great food! Thanks, George, for giving me my first experience holding - and feeding - a goose, and for your compliments on the cookies!
